Smile Pretty Cure!

The ninth Pretty Cure that will appear in February 5th on 2012! The theme on this series is about fairy tales.

Story
Once upon a time, there was a country known as Märchenland where fairy tales mingled together. However, the Evil Emperor Pierrot of the Bad End Kingdom has invaded the country and sealed away its Queen. In order for the Queen to be revived, the Cure Décor, tokens of happiness, must be gathered. To gather them, the fairy Candy came to Earth to search for the next Pretty Cures. It's there that Candy meets Miyuki Hoshizora and the two of them decide to gather the Cure Décor together.

(5つの光が導く未来! 輝け!スマイルプリキュア! Itsutsu no hikari ga michibiku mirai! Kagayake! Sumairu PuriKyua!)

It has obtained before in Pink, Orange, Yellow, Green and Blue Heroine posts, so I only post their civilian and Cure forms (I use Paint to combine each 5 pictures). Enjoy!

From left to right: Cure Beauty, Cure Peace, Cure Happy, Cure Sunny, and Cure March.
Mascots

Candy (キャンディ Kyandi)
Seiyuu: Ikue Otani
A fairy from Märchenland searching for Cure Décor, gaining the assistance of the Pretty Cures. She is quite fashionable and likes to doll herself up. She ends her sentences with "-kuru~". Towards the end of the story, it's revealed that Candy is Miracle Jewel (see Items for more) and Royale Queen's daughter.

Pop (ポップ Poppu)
Seiyuu: Daisuke Sakaguchi
Pop is Candy's older brother, a male lion-like fairy. He prides himself on being a man though gets bashful when he is called 'cool'. He alongside Candy were in charge of searching for the five chosen ones to become Pretty Cures. He reunites with Candy after she gather the five cures together, bringing along the Decor Décor. He ends his sentences with "~de gozaru".

Royale Queen (ロイヤルクイーン Roiyaru Kuīn)
Seiyuu: Sumi Shimamoto
The Queen of Märchenland. When Märchenland was attacked by Pierrot, the Cure Decors that make up her power were stolen whilst she used the remainder of her power to seal Pierrot away. She sends five magical lights to Earth and sends Candy to search for the Pretty Cures in order to recover the Cure Decors and restore her power. Towards the end of the story, it's revealed that this Royale Queen will about to die and deliver Candy as her daughter and new Royale Queen.
Bad End Kingdom
The homeplace of the antagonists of the series, whose residents invaded Märchenland and traveled to Earth in an attempt to give it the "Worst Ending" by collecting Bad Energy.
4707
Pierrot (ピエーロ Piēro)
Seiyuu: Tessho Genda
The main antagonist of the series and the emperor of the Bad End Kingdom who seals the Queen. 'Piero' is the Japanese language translation for 'clown.' This may explain why the Akanbe have faces that resemble clown makeup. Prior to the story, he was sealed by the Royale Queen, and it's revived in Episode 22 and shows up in Episode 23, with the real form (right) in Episode 47.

Wolfurun (ウルフルン Urufurun)

A wolf-like monster whose mission is to chase Candy before she finds Pretty Cures. He's based on wolf villains from Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs.

Akaoni (アカオーニ Akaōni)
Seiyuu: Hiroshi Iwasaki
At Pierrot's service, he's a red demon that reminds one of oni from Japanese fairytales such as Momotaro. Ends the senteces with 'oni'

Majorina (マジョリーナ Majorīna)
Seiyuu: Miina Tominaga
One of Pierrot's subordinates, she's a little witch that reminds one of Snow White's disguised step-mother. Ends the senteces with "-da wasa."

4550
In Episode 45, when purified by Ultra Cure Happy, they're reverted back to their original form: Marchenland fairies. They decided to team-up with Joker to avoid being bullied by others.

Joker (ジョーカー Jōkā)
Seiyuu: Yūji Mitsuya
A member of Bad End Kingdom, so far his statue is unclear. His appearance is based off the Harlequins in some Fairy Tales. Vibrant as his clownish appearance, Joker tends to playfully break out in acrobatics and has a bouncy personality, but he can be also a sadistic lover of destruction. In Episode 46, Joker dies for Pierrot's absorption.

First Akanbe in Episode 1
Akanbe (アカンベー Akanbē)
Seiyuu: Hiro Sasaki
The monsters summoned by the villians of the series to battle the Pretty Cure. They are created by fusing an ordinary object with a Red Nose containing Pierrot's power (just ordinary object slided by Pierrot's emblem and zooms up into the Akanbe, very better than Negatone's scene), turning the Cure Décor's energy to Bad Energy.
First Blue Akanbe in Episode 12 (kokoda_koji said it Aonbe due of Blue Nose, but I said it Blue Akanbe instead because no spelling of Aonbe in wikipedia nor wikia).
However, the Blue Nose Akanbe doesn't have any Cure Decole inside, which makes Pretty Cure difficult to defeat it individually. Can be purified by Rainbow Healing.
First Yellow Akanbe in Episode 23 (Kokoda_koji calls in Kiironbe)
This Yellow Akanbe can be defeated by individual attacks, used when the Yellow Nose traps the Decor Decolle.
2427
Super Akanbe (スーパーアカンベェ Sūpā Akanbe~e)
Debut: Episode 24
This Akanbe was made of two red noses, due to that it becomes twice as strong as the others (except Hyper), so don't expect this can be finished by two solo attacks. However, this type don't care what enemies or allies, so they often attack all that gets in their way. This Akanbe is defeated by the group attack Rainbow Burst.

Hyper Akanbe (ハイパーアカンベェ Haipā Akanbe~e)
Debut: Episode 31
This Akanbe was made of black nose. To make them stronger, Joker must spray black paint to normal Akanbe, and the other three Bad End Cadres must enter Akanbe's mouth to control their move (and to make their symbol and accessories, example is Majorina's head and her symbol), but become a great toll on their bodies. Only Royal Rainbow Burst will finish this Akanbe, since if Pretty Cure use the normal version, this Akanbe can revert Princess Forms back to Pretty Cure Form.

What Should I Review This?
As this series was about to end (reaching Episode 46), let's take a look for the entire series. Please refrain from reading this if you're not watching all of the episodes so far (48 Episodes, similiar to Suite).

I like fairy tales since I was a child, and loves magical girl anime genre. Fairy tales is the fantasy type which features the little talking creature. And now, Smile Pretty Cure is based on fairy tales, I quite like the fairy tale type anime, like turning into kid (I like that episode), or robot.

The positive thing is the reaching-the-end-of-the-story. Only Sunny, Peace, and Beauty reached the criteria. Happy's one is bad because of no connections to the past and happiness in later story. March one is the simple one. Fortunately, the section doesn't look like Suite and it's better. Another one is the characters. Though many fans like Cure Peace (which Tamashii would release her S.H. Figuarts in April 2013), I like Cure Beauty the most (for me, she has the same motif to Joe Gibken in Gokaiger, though with some differences; and both Joe and Reika are my most favorite characters in their own series). Sorry if this has no relations, but this is the only thing I should write here.

The most prominent here is the negative one. At first, I really looking forward for the fairy tale to raise as there will be more fairy tales mentioned in the story. But the results? Focusing the most about hope, despair and character development than fairy tales. And the whole series were really messy as they forgot their previous group attack (Rainbow Healing) and has no relations. Only some episodes really contains fairy tales. When Pop explains the story starts with Pretty Cure books, there is ALMOST no relations to the book at the whole story (however, it's given to Royale Queen in Episode 47)

More severing, the staff decides to reuse the ideas from the previous Pretty Cure series. For example, Yes! Pretty Cure 5's Episode 23 was reused in Episode 32. More cruel, Heartcatch Pretty Cure's Episode 36 were reused in Episode 34. Even more cruel again that Pretty Cure All Stars DX3 was reused in the final episode! (48. But, when I'm read the comments that Episode 48 was so excellent, but I'm not. Seems that depending on either newbies or old-Pretty Cure fan, Episode 48 can get the viewers to either praise or scold the episode, while for me, I get the 'scold' part) Sad, isn't it?  For the music is quite good, but as usual some of them were reused from the previous season, which is another sad point, but it's okay for story scene's perfectionist (like Fresh Pretty Cure OST Track31 was reused in the end of Smile Episode 22, quite matching the theme).

To calculate story-wise, it has two overall rating depending on where you know Pretty Cure series for long or just newbies, either this series is another least favorite series after Suite (Scolding Part) or another best series after Heartcatch (Praising Part. However, I don't really get why they rate Heartcatch as the best series). It would be better to conclude another new idea exclusive to the series instead of reusing the previous (like Ep 34's Fashion Show become Group Date Cafe or Drama about one of the Fairy Tales). However, the fantasy seasoning makes Smile pushed to the center point before Suite and makes this series a little bit better than Suite at start, but for me, becomes horrible than Suite if you watch the whole. If you're Pretty Cure newbies, better picking this one and forget to watch another series (but I really didn't forbid you from watching another series), and if you're a fairy tale type fan, you can give at least watch to it. If you don't want the part when the heroes becomes traumatized by villains and suceeds of doing so (Episode 22, 43 and 47, for instance), please refrain from watching Smile. You'll regret it later.

Edit on February 11, 2013: Actually, at first I found out that the final ending was resemble to DX3 ending, but after I watch, some of the episode's really matched the lyrics, so pumped up! Watch it yourself if you don't care. The only differences about Smile's Final Ending in DX3's Ending is DX3 features all of the Cures cries first, then come to the scene features Pretty Cure-Mascots, Smile one is Miyuki's happy face and almost all of the episodes' one scene (with the clear exceptions from Episode 45-48), overall, Smile is better than DX3, at least Miyuki shows her happy face. But connecting to the episode 48... well, so bad.

Rating
Overall
5 out of 10, 3 out of 10 (as of April 30th, 2013)
Pros
-    Colourful Story. That’s all I know at the beginning of the series
-  Some of the original story (not being reused from the previous) was excellent.
Cons
-     Focusing too much for Character Development than fairy tales.
-     For those who have already watch the previous series (mostly for Yes! Pretty Cure 5 viewers), you’ll find out that many story ideas were being reused here.
